Mr. Gott was a relief pitcher and closer during his career. He set the Pirates single season saves record in 1988, with 34 saves. He is also one of the only pitchers in the modern era to hit two home runs in one game which he did on May 12, 1985. He was also the pitching coach for Dennis Quaid during film for The Rookie.
