Teams: Rangers, Indians, A's, Marlins
I'm afraid I don't have much information on Mr. Browne's career so there's not all that much I can say. He did break the record for longest response time previously held by Mike Maddux (July 19, 2011). I thank him very much for signing.
Luis Salazar (3B/OF) - July 27, 2011 - Response time: 54 days
Teams: Padres, White Sox, Padres, Tigers, Padres, Cubs
Among his many notable feats (at least to me) is the fact that in 2000 Mr. Salazar was the hitting coach for my very own Indianapolis Indians. He is also a member of the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Hall-of-Fame. Mr. Salazar was in the news this season for a different and much more terrible reason. On March 15th of this year, which a hitting instructor at the Atlanta Braves spring training facility, Mr. Salazar was hit in the face by a foul ball by Braves catcher Brian McCann. Surgery was performed later that day which removed Mr. Salazar's left eye. Despite this horrific setback however, Mr. Salazar has expressed a commitment to remain with the game and returned to the dugout just a month later. I thank him very much for signing.
