Mr. Smith had a 13 year major league career for three teams. He notched up over 1,000 strikeouts during that time. In 1989 he became a subject of teasing when he complained in a Sports Illustrated article about the playing conditions in Montreal, which included the inconvenience of having to drive to Plattsburgh, NY to buy Doritos chips. I thank him very much for signing and per the request and suggestion of some friends, I would like to give myself a shout out since I live in Washington, DC, where the Expos(Nationals) now play.
