Bobby Bonilla (Pirates Leaders) - July 11, 2011 - Response time: 17 days

Teams: White Sox, Pirates, Orioles, Marlins, Dodgers, Mets, Braves, Cardinals

This is Mr. Bonilla's second time signing for me ( May 17, 2011 ) so I thank him doubly this time. Instead of writing about him again I invite you to see my previous post on the link above. Rather I want to talk about a conundrum I face. I sent out 26 of these "Team Leader" cards and I've now gotten four of them back. The conundrum I face is whether to send out the card again to try and get the second players signature as well. Now, in the case of the card above the answer is easy, "no." I sent a card to Mr. Bonds already and I got a very nice and polite letter back from his people saying that he doesn't sign but would he please accept this (very nice) baseball card instead. However, in the other cases I'm just not sure what to do. I invite any and all thoughts on the matter. Again though, I thank Mr. Bonilla for signing a second time. I really appreciate it.

Eric King (P) - July 11, 2011 - Response time: 21 days

Teams: Tigers, White Sox, Indians.

Mr. King has a very brief Wikipedia entry so there's not really a lot to say here. He played for three teams across five seasons and may be best known for giving up Ken Griffey Jr.'s first career home run. I thank him very much for signing.

Chris Speier (3B/SS) - July 11, 2011 - Response time: 17 days

Teams: Giants, Expos, Cardinals, Twins, Cubs, Giants.

Mr. Speier had an 18 year career from 1971 through 1989. He was a three time All-Star in the early 70's and is currently the Bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds. I thank him very much for signing.

Marvell Wynne (OF) - July 11, 2011 - Response time: 17 days

Teams: Pirates, Padres, Cubs, Hashin Giants (Japan)

Mr. Wynne sent me three cards, one each from his three teams (though not the card I sent him). All were signed and the middle, from his time on the Pirates, is personalized. Mr. Wynne, along with Tony Gwynn and John Kruk where the first three players to hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to lead off a game on April 13, 1987. I thank him very much for the three cards.
