June 14, 2011 - Rookie of the Year

Lou Whitaker (2B) - June 13, 2011 - Response time: 6 days

Teams: Tigers

Mr. Whitaker spent his entire 18 year career with the Tigers and it was an impressive career at that.  He selected to five consecutive All-Star games between 1983 and 1987, a span in which he also won three Gold Gloves and four Silver Sluggers. He was the 1978 American League Rookie of the Year (as he notes on his card) and he won the World Series in the Tigers in 1984. He is also known, along with teammate Alan Trammell, as half of the longest running "double play" combination in major league history. I thank him very much for signing.

Greg Mathews (P) - June 13, 2011 - Response time: 17 days

Teams: Cardinals, Phillies

Mr. Mathews played all or part of five seasons with St. Louis and Philadelphia. I thank him very much for signing. I would also like to give a special shout out to Glenn and Luke, my favorite Cardinals fans!
