March 8, 2011 - MVP - HOF

I came back from another long weekend away (my last for a while thankfully) to find eight cards in my mailbox, including my first two Dodgers (which finally gives me one from every team) and another hall-of-famer!!!

Scott Bailes (P) - March 3, 2011 - Response time: 8 days

Teams: Indians, Angels, Rangers

I would like to thank Mr. Bailes very much for signing and recognize Lauren, my favorite Indians fan.

Tom Lawless (3B/2B) - March 3, 2011 - Response time: 17 days

Teams: Reds, Expos, Cardinals, Jays

I would like to thank Mr. Lawless very much for signing and say hello to Glenn, the most die-hard Cardinals fan I know.

Phil Garner (3B) - March 4, 2011 - Response time: 10 days

Teams (Player): A's, Pirates, Astros, Giants, Dodgers
Teams (Manager): Brewers, Tigers, Astros

Mr. Garner is a three time All-Star in the late 70's and 80's and won the World Series in 1979 with the Pirates, that's right, the Pirates.  I thank him very much for signing and I would like to give a special shout out to Heather and Sarah, both of whom are big Dodgers fans.

Brad Arnsberg (P) - March 5, 2011 - Response time: 18 days

Teams: Yankees, Rangers, Indians

I would like to thank Mr. Arnsberg very much for signing and give a shout out to Mark and Evan!

Tim Stoddard (P) - March 5, 2011 - Response time: 53 days

Teams: White Sox, Orioles, Cubs, Padres, Yankees, Indians

Interestingly, Stoddard is one of only two men to play in both an NCAA Basketball Final Four game, and an MLB World Series, and Stoddard has a role with a minor speaking part as a major league pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the movie "Rookie of the Year". ("Pitchers got a big butt!)  I thank him very much for signing.

Robin Yount - HOF (OF) - March 5, 2011 - Response time: 38 days

Teams: Brewers

Mr. Yount is the second member of the Baseball Hall of Fame to respond to my request for an autograph.  He was inducted in 1999 on the first ballot.  He is an All-Star, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winner and was twice the AL MVP.  His #19 has been retired by the Brewers.  He did not actually sign the card, as you can see above, but sent along a signed note card (which basically says he's too busy to sign individual things) and a post card (not a real signature).  I thank him so much for signing.

Len Matuszek (1B/OF) - March 5, 2011 - Response time: 15 days

Teams: Phillies, Blue Jays, Dodgers

I would like to thank Mr. Matuszek for signing and once again recognize Heather and Sarah.

Todd Benzinger (OF/1B) - March 7, 2011 - Response time: 20 days

Teams: Red Sox, Reds, Royals, Dodgers, Giants

Mr. Benzinger won the World Series with the Reds in 1990.  I thank him very much for signing and I would like to recognize Caitlin, Brianna, Tori, Mr. & Mrs. C and Wes, among my myriad Red Sox friends.
