So in addition to all the successful cards I get back, I get a fair number of "return to senders" or "RTS" There are a number of reasons for these, ranging from the fact that the person no longer lives at that address, no longer works for that company/team as well as the fact that some minor league teams just don't hold their players/coaches mail during the off season. Whenever I do get one of these RTS letters I try my very best to find a new place to send it. Most of the time I've got no option but to just put them off to the side to try and figure out once I've sent out all the cards I can, but sometimes I can find another option and, sometimes, that option works. This card, Mark Gubicza was one I got on my second try.
Mark Gubicza (P) - December 9, 2010 - Response time (second letter): 29 days
Teams: Royals, Angels
Mr. Gubicza is a 2x All Star, a World Series Champion and also, apparently, the Kansas City Royals version of Wild Thing (Charlie Sheen), from the movie Major League. I thank him for signing, and for his unwitting patience while I tracked him down.
Today's stats:
Cards sent: 214
Responses: 18
Response Rate: 8.41%
Average Response time: 14.22 days
Indeed strange to have such a drought in December, you'd figure the players who are managing or coaching would have nothing to do except eat and bother their family.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I can pick out any semblance of "Mark" or "Gubicza" in that signature. You should do some sort of study on the readability of responses.
